Howdy-doo everybody! Neo here live from India typing away on my Uncle's computer, relieved of the fact that I have finally connected with the outside world after 2-3 weeks! Yes, I must say it's been different here than my home in U.S, but I have been adapting to this natural habitat quite well.
Plus I have taken over 400 pictures on my seemingly well-spent trip with my relatives, few that I shall post up on DA after I return back.
Trust me, there is ALOT to say of what I had been dealing with here. Some good some bad, but we can leave that for some other time.

Today, however, I wish to rant on about the new Harry Potter movie that I was fortunate enough to see here, and when I say "fortunate" I mean THANK-THE-LORD FORTUNATE.
Remember how I made plans about going with my friend to see it in India when it came out? (And it did so on July 16th instead of the 15th btw). Welllllll...we both booked tickets to see the 1:00 pm show at the South City Mall theatre, and let me make a side note that this mall was soooo much cooler and bigger than the ones in the U.S.

So she had my ticket and we were going to meet up at the mall at 12:30pm. I was dressed up and everything (all hyped up and shit) when all of a sudden, my dad gets a phonecall from my uncle that some buses were burned near our district as signs of protests against some government regulation. It was supposedly really violent, so knowing that, my dad freaked out and FORBID ME TO STEP OUT OF THE HOUSE.

And here's one of those things that I really HATE about Kolkata,India is that our government is so damn weak and corrupted, and all these violent protests are happening every day. So just my luck, something like that HAD to happen right on the day of the movie!

Now let me just say that I was on the brink of tears when my dad wouldn't let me go. He even called my friend and told her that I wasn't going and to give my ticket to someone else. I was planning this day since last year, and if you are a rabid Potter fan like me, you would understand.

Well anyways, the rational side of me had to choose which one was more important---My life, or Half-Blood Prince. I was too upset to make a decision, but I had to accept reality.

Luckily however, two of my other relatives had come over that day (my grandma's sister and husband), and they proposed that we take a different route to the mall to avoid the violent streets. After my mom, who pitied my despair, finally convinced my dad to take me, we FINALLY were able to leave the house! I was freakin' overjoyed with madness
But the dilemma was not over yet, 'cause the streets were packed and I had only half an hour to get to the theatre. Plus, I found out on the way there that my friend had already given away her ticket to some neighbor's kid so my reserved spot was gone. Now there are ALOT of Potter fans in India (Yes, Indians love their magical British heroes), so there was a high chance that the theatres would have a full house by the time I got there to buy a ticket for myself. Of course this led me to freak out even more.

Yet, the goddess of luck and fate was on my side that day, for not only were we able to get to the theatre in less than half an hour (full praise goes to the cab driver who got us there through a clear route not inhabited by traffic), but I was also able to buy my ticket for the 1:00 pm showtime. Although I didn't get to sit with my friend and her buddy for the first half of the movie (we chose an empty row to sit altogether after the intermission), I was glad that everything worked out as planned. We were lucky to have many seats available for the 1:00 pm show because it was a weekday and kids/teens had school.

So on that note, I would continue on saying that I was so happy that I got to see what I have set out to watch since November of last year. Half-Blood Prince, I thought, was much better than the other Potter movies after 3 (1 & 2 dont count 'cause they weren't dark enough). I believe I laughed more than I cried, which is interesting considering that the book was exceptionally dark (besides the snogging parts), but here's what I have opionized and noted---
First, the mild disappointments...nothing too drastic but nonetheless...I was a bit upset that we didn't get too much into Riddle's past. I wanted to see Merope and the Gaunts, and Riddle seeing the Hufflepuff cup to use as his horcrux (not much important I know). Then, they didn't show the white tomb at the end which I was sort of expecting since I pictured it all in my head (and it does come back in book 7 when Voldemort tries to steal the Elder wand). Yet, Dumbledore's death in the movie was very well done and I sincerely felt the pain (it was great how everyone raised their wands as a sign of respect and grief). Then there was the fact that the Burrow got burned down--Did NOT happen in the book and I understand that the movie showed it to add some juicy action...but Im wondering how its going to be revived in Deathly Hollows when the wedding will take place (Unless of course, Fleur and Bill decides to have it somewhere else, or worse, they dont show it at all!). And a big goof I've noticed...how the hell did Snape and the Death Eaters just leave Hogwarts without anyone noticing? They just marched through the empty hallways like they were havin a stroll through the park and just left!

I recall there was a battle indoors in the book. I mean, I would have noticed something fishy going on if I saw the dark mark over my school.
And then of course there were those measly errors that only Potter-movie watchers would not get, such as how Harry suddenly became captain of the quidditch team with Ginny and the others, and that Ginny suddenly became Harry's love interest. Yes, to me, I dont think this relationship was too developed. It sort of progressed, but not as much (I didnt see Harry flicker with jealousy when Dean kissed Ginny at Hogs Head for example). And OH! Speaking of romantic errors...I was VERYY upset that Tonks and Lupin were ALREADY married in this movie! NO, we all know that they shared this secret forbidden relationship that is broken and complicated! And they were my favorite!!

Oh well....
Now for the good parts. Well, the humor scenes were just...humorous. I think the movie did really well on making it funny when it needed it to be. I love love LOVE the part when Harry drinks the Felix Felices. ROFL, he's all giddy and walking down hogwarts like dum-dee-dum-dee-doo without a problem in the world

The quidditch game was awesome, Katie Bell and the cursed necklace was wicked cool, the Weasley twins and their Jokes shop was slap-your-knee hilarious, Dumbledore's death was heartbreaking, and the cave scene was just as how I imagined! Pure brilliance and full of awesomeness! And should I mention that Snape somehow looked very attractive in this movie? I don't know if it's the makeup, but gosh!

And Draco Malfoy, oh poor old foolish Draco Malfoy...can't hate a guy who can be so wickedly vain and buffoony yet wrench my heart out when he's all teary in front of Dumbledore because he knows Voldemort would kill him if he fails

(Yes you know the line..."I have to do this. I have to kill you...or...he'll kill me." T__T ).
K, well that's the ranting for today! Once again, I was exuberant that I got to watch it here 'cause I know I wouldn't have been able to anytime else. Brilliant film, brilliant book, and now it's just a matter of time before the next and final 2-part movie will come out. Boy oh boy, my favorite book too! I might just go see Half-Blood-Prince again after I go back to the U.S. Got a poster from my friend,

for my bday already!

(YEA LOVES U LUCIDA!

).
So what did YOU all think of the movie? Leave some comments!
